About Felton Williams
Dr. Felton Williams,
recently
retired Dean of Long Beach City College's School of Business and Social Science and an educator with 30 years of experience, is running for the Long Beach Unified School Board's 2nd District seat
for a second
term. He has the endorsement of the district's retiring board member, the Honorable Bobbie Smith, as well as a majority of the current LBUSD board, many other public officials and district residents.
Dr. Williams attended California State University, Long Beach where he earned B.A. (1972), and M.B.A. (1975), degrees in Business Administration with emphases in management and manpower management. He also graduated from Los Angeles Harbor Community College (1970) with an A.A. degree in Secretarial Science.
Dr. Williams received his doctorate degree from Claremont Graduate University in Education Administration (1985), and speaks fondly of his experiences with Dr. Delores Cross, who now serves as president of Chicago State University, and Peter F. Drucker, who served as members of his Orals Committee. Dr. Williams is a product of San Pedro, California where he attended elementary through high school.
Goals for the District
Dr. Williams' immediate goals for the district include creating greater opportunities for parental involvement in school curriculum and activities, and strengthening partnerships with the local business community. Dr. Williams is a firm believer in continuing the district's push towards excellence, as evidenced by the recent receipt of the Eli Broad award.
